How to Release Sabotaging Behaviors

Our saboteur is the part of us that feels afraid and does things that undermine us so that we receive the opposite of what we truly desire. The saboteur tries to protect us in some way but the protection is based on fear rather than love.It’s usually a younger part of ourselves that needs reassurance and compassion.Trust that you can soothe and heal this part of yourself and still move forward.

Examples of how your saboteur feeds on your fear to stop you in your tracks:  suddenly getting a headache before something important, believing that “you aren’t good enough,” finding all kinds of ways to distract you from really matters: avoiding things, denying that there is an issue, over-working, shopping, alcohol, even facebooking!

If you feel that you are stuck with feeling stuck and have to accept less than you truly desire, your saboteur is probably running in the background.

If you’re wondering if you have one, ask yourself “Do I have a saboteur?” and hear its response.
You may also ask it what is it afraid of?  Or What does it want from you?

How does the Ego Affect Your Saboteur?

We have heard about the Ego—but what is it anyway?  From my understanding, it is a collective persona made up of all the defensive subpersonalities that are still driving your unconscious behavior.  The ego has many gatekeepers, the Saboteur being one.

In my book,Heart Empowerment for Empaths, I walk you through the 4 chambers of ‘Heart Empowerment’ healing.  With each chamber,there is a “gatekeeper personality” that must be integrated.  The Saboteur is one of them and may have been developed from your wounded inner child. This part of you put up energetic walls in order to avoid feeling more emotional pain.

Feeling safe to be who you are and choose what you want is paramount in life.  It sounds so easy, but in fact, most people,especially ones who may have suffered childhood emotional neglect or even trauma, have built immense heart walls around their heart.  These walls are about as impenetrable as Fort Knox is!  That means no one or nothing can really get in.

What is even more dismaying for spiritual seekers, is that they THINK they are doing themselves good by doing all this inner work. However, if they are doing it with their Saboteur still in charge-only so much will get through.

What they end up doing is making it a lot harder on themselves, which creates a pattern of struggle.

Understand this. The Saboteur/Ego aspect of you wants you to seek but never find.
That is the cycle of crazy making! If you hear the voices of   “I can’t” “it’s too hard” “It will never work for me” and you feel unmotivated to make empowering decisions, then your Saboteur more than likely the main one driving your life.

This is why it is so important to learn how to put our minds into a theta state. It lets us become creators of our own universe by putting us into direct contact with infinite intelligence. The brain is more rational while the heart is more intuitive. Your brain opens the doorway to infinite intelligence while your heart does the actual communicating.

How does it communicate? Your heart space is the Creation Station, so when you focus on your heart with love and empowerment, you activate an electromagnetic energy that magnetizes what you want with more ease. If however, your saboteur is in charge, it maybe holding the charge of low self-esteem, fear, doubt, shame, guilt or craving.

Get Your Journal Out, take 3 cleansing breathes, invite your SABOTEUR to have a conversation and answer each of these:

1. Is there an area of life I am unable to make progress in?If so, what is it?

2. What are 3 main reasons I have that I cannot move forward yet?

3. How much energy on a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest)that this part of me in “in charge?”

4. What does it tell me? (ex: Who do you think you are? ex: You’re not enough. It will never work. )

5. What is it costing you to keep listening to the limitation?

6. How does it affect your happiness, health, wealth or relationships?

Once you have gotten some clarity, then you are at a choicepoint: Continue down the same path you’ve been on, or Get Support.
